1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled? 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? 5. Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread?

Onion Practice
1. A technique that I tried was brightening brightness/highlighting with white chalk pastel. This is something that I neither mastered nor struggled with. Generally I placed the white in brighter areas; however, at the same time it was difficult to know whether I should leave the brightness as is or blended in.
2. I gained inspiration from the peers around me through the detail that they had used throughout their drawings, with the onions and paper bag. Through the detailed us of line in my peers' work the objects appeared more life like.
3. Initially my piece started with a 4x4 grid that briefly outlined shapes for my picture. Then I moved onto making my outlines more detailed and permanent. After my shapes had been created I used black charcoal to create shadows. Finally I used white to create more depth within my piece.
4. If I could do something over I would add lighter lines to the onion as I had done with the table in order to make it appear more realistic. 5. This piece relates to my other pieces because it covers the same medium, chalk. This may eventually relate to the common thread of identity due to the sense of realism that was my target when creating this piece.
