1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled? 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? 5. Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread?
1. A technique I mastered was blending colors with pastel. I've used pastel in my other pieces however I had not been through with blending. I struggled with creating definition to the face. For example when I had finished coloring the girl's hair the black pastel would get onto the face. In addition I had also experimented with color organization and how different colors would define different features. 2. I had drawn inspiration from Leo, especially from his last project in which he used color pencil to highlight BTS's V's face. I liked his portrayal of real life people and wanted to try it out. I had derived meaning from his piece through the way in which he portrayed the beauty of the person. 3. Initially I wanted to use color pencil however I was not able to use the medium very well as I was only coloring lightly. Also I gradually added different aspects into my piece to diversify it, such as the lion's face. 4. If I were to do this piece again I would have been more careful when using the black pastel. Especially because it kept forcing me to edit the face. 5. This piece connects with my previous pieces as they all follow this common theme of "identity". The point I am making is that everyone goes around in their life blindfolded by the standards set by society however if the blindfold comes off the person would realize that they are actually a lion, king of animals, in their society. This is a person's identity as it allows them to become more successful when thinking out of the box.
